Day 1

It is the first day of Lent. I have never participated in it before but this year God has truly convicted me of learning to be more sacrificial with my life. I want to honor Him completely and I feel like this is just one thing, among many, that can bring me closer to a life that worships my King.

I have chosen to give up all sweets and facebook for the next 40 days. Now since this is all new to me my best friend informed me that you do get Sundays off. I have not decided what I am going to do about sweets on Sundays (I am leaning towards not eating them at all) but I will use Sundays to catch up a little on my web world. I don't think facebook is a bad thing, I just don't want it to be a daily part of my routine!

Today has not been too bad regarding the sweets. I am not looking forward to the next three days. I have a baby shower tomorrow, Naomi's birthday party (with an ice-cream) bar on Friday, and  wedding on Saturday. It should all be horribly painful. Feel free to feel sorry for me. I am just kidding. I also imagine during this time of "sacrifice" God is going to teach me to rejoice in living for Him. I don't want to "give up" something for the sake of Christ, if I only expect sympathy in return. That is not true sacrifice.

Facebook is killing me. I go to check my email and have to force myself not to go to facebook. I really don't spend that much "time" on it during the day, maybe like 30 total, it is just a constant compulsion of checking it 20 times a day. Seriously, I have an issue.

3 year Check up!

I took Naomi for her 3 year check up yesterday!
Weight- 31 lbs (55%tile)
Height-39 inches (85%tile)

They gave her a prescription for Singular since she is having her seasonal asthma flair ups again. She coughs all night long, it is so sad:( And yes, I have even tried putting Vicks vapor rub on her feet with socks!

Hopefully the medicine will help!

I can not believe our little girl is three years old! They event took her blood pressure at the doctor yesterday. It was 93/45. She is so old!

Pictures from Arianna's Birthday Party...

Naomi's friend from church, Arianna, had her 3rd birthday last week. She lives on a huge farm and the girls had a blast running around like crazy!

Naomi flying a kite! She love it!

Gabby trying to figure out how to hit the pinatta...once she realized there was candy in it, she was so excited!
Gabby and cake...she is doing her "cheese" face.
Naomi roasting marshmallows!

Truth For Tuesday

5 Truths for Today....

1. I honestly have been super busy the last few weeks and have not had time to sit down and actually write something "meaningful." Secondly, it takes me a long time to write something that sounds somewhat intelligent. I totally envy people who can throw something together that sounds brilliant in a matter of minutes. I remember once in college, when Jenn decided that since her paper was do the next day and she had not started, that she just wasn't going to do it. Of course I convinced her that would be irresponsible, and of course she got an A. Seriously.

2. I really really really miss my husband. It actually has not been as long as some past patrols but I am just done with him being gone. I was talking to fellow boat wife yesterday and we were discussing how when our husbands are gone we are just different people. You can think what you want, but it is just how I have to survive. I know that I can not "let myself go" when Matt is away, so I don't, ever. I hardly ever cry because I know that if I start, I won't be able to stop. I have to become the complete "head" of our home, make every decision, whether it is a financial one, or deciding a new way to discipline our children.

3. Beyond the eventual process of selling our home, our lives are completely unaffected by this economic crisis. I am not sure if that is a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I am incredibly grateful for the job security and steady income that the military life provides, but it seems that it has put me a little out of touch with reality. It is quite ironic that in the midst of chaos across the country, we just got a pretty significant raise. I am not really sure how I feel about it.

4. When Matt and I got married we said we wanted six kids. With two down, I might be reconsidering that number. It is not that I don't think we can handle a house full of munchkins, it just I am sure I could deal with the ever increasing worry, that each child would provide. Why did no one tell me about the mass amount of anxiety that comes with children? Matt and I, really are the complete opposite of anxious people, and I would actually challenge anyone to getting us worked up. It is just that all of sudden, we are responsible for the "life" of two little people. It is not their physical needs that gets me, it is that we actually have to inspire "goodness" out of them. We have to teach them every day, that life is not about them, or us, but something far more worthy. Then one day we actually have to let them drive.....I am already terrified. TWO is just such a comfortable number! Once we have more than that, we will be outnumbered.

5. I thought I was the photographer in the family....the below picture was taken by Gabby, yes Gabby, our 20 month old, while we were playing in a huge tent I created. It is probably my favorite picture of myself in a while.

Naomi's Birthday Day

We are planning on holding off until the end of the month for Naomi's birthday party but here are a few pictures from her actual "birthday."

Pretty girl posing for the camera...
"How old are you Naomi?"
Her ghetto "three" look! (This picture was just on accident, during her saying something, but I think it is hysterical. She looks so ghetto!)
Gimme some cake! NOW!
Happy girl!

My kids won't sit still for pictures!

I love these two, even when they are rotten:)

Alphabet Soup Letter "F"

Some of our favorite things that begin with the letter F...

1. French Fries...I mean really, is there any better food? We have had the favorite french fry discussion many of times, and I think Chick-Fil-a fries are my favorite and Matt's are probably Rally's. The girls like them all.
2. Fridays- The end of "normal" work weeks when Matt's job is in "normal" mode...which is not very often.
3. Flowers- I don't necessary care to recive flowers that often but I do love seeing all the tulips bloom in Ky in the spring...it is so pretty. I really love to admire other people's gardening skills!
4. Fudge- Yummo!
5. Friends- I am so beyond blessed to have so many wonderful friends in my life. Seriously, my friends are better than yours, don't try to argue!
6. "Free" Stuff- I am becoming more and more frugile in my "old" age and am totally down with anything that doesn't cost anything. I think half our furniture was given to us.
7. Football- I know I mention something sports related in everyone of my favorite lists...it is just so true.
8. Four Square- No, I have not played this in years...but it sure does bring back some memories!
9. Funniness- Matt and I constantly debate on which one of us is funnier. I do think I am pretty hilarious but I will concede and give the award to him. He is pretty funny.
10. Facebook- Who ever invented this time warp? Horrible, ingenious idea.

Happy Birthday Naomi!

I just have not had time to order announcements for Naomi's birthday. Here is one of the options I was working on. I hoping to at least get something ordered for her party, which is not going to be until Feb 27th, for various reasons.

I love this kid. I am watching her chow down some birthday cake right now. She is a happy girl.
